Discover Computing

An observational study followed 53 postgraduate readers as they revised critiques of academic articles using generated reviews, a chatbot and the original paper. Screen recordings and interviews revealed different patterns of reliance, re-reading and dialogue that varied with the perceived difficulty of the task. The study explains how AI-supported reading can unfold, but without a non-AI comparison or independent transfer assessment it does not establish that the tool improved critical-reading ability.

An engineering module taught students to audit AI claims before using them in design work

Christine E. King, Beth A. Lopour

Biomedical Engineering Education

A biomedical engineering course asked students to verify ChatGPT's claims against research literature and revise an AI-generated device proposal with tracked changes. Thirty-one of 68 students answered the evaluation survey, reporting better awareness of limitations and less automatic trust. Project reflections showed selective use, especially for brainstorming. This teaching report offers a concrete assessment design, but it did not demonstrate a causal improvement in critical-thinking ability or student learning outcomes.
