From generative-AI feedback to sport skill learning: The roles of perceived competence and autonomous motivation in university physical education

Jiehao Dong, Zhen Zhang

Frontiers in Psychology

A randomized university basketball study found better free-throw accuracy and technique after a structured AI feedback programme, including a test two weeks after feedback stopped. The comparison involved whole teaching packages: written personalized feedback and an action plan versus conventional oral instructor feedback. It therefore does not isolate an AI-specific effect. The delayed advantage reflected a higher retained skill level, while the study found no clear difference in the rate of forgetting.
